A gola tricotada/ The knitted cowl

What I really know, is that my mom is a super talented lady that I am very proud of. After a long month literally begging for a knitted cowl, Santa finally brought me one made from my mom and it is even better than I could imagine it! It is huge, very warm and fuzzy, exactly like I wanted!

Finally, in the last couple of days I found some time for myself to complete some of the projects I have wanted to do for a while. Do you remember my TOTE bag, the one I have been embroidering since last June? Well, in the beginning of December I bought my Mollie Makes and there it was this amazing pattern of a typewriter so we could create some original illustrated pins with it. Since I saw this, I just had to embroider the typewriter to my TOTE bag. What I have never shared here is that I have a huge obsession with typewriters (like most girls like me do). My typewriter is not actually mine, since it’s my mom’s typewriter but for many years now I am the only one that uses it and quite often it actually translates into an almost religious moment, to take the machine out, putting it on my desk and hear the “tap tap” of the letters as I write. For this reason, this Christmas day I sat with my mom in our porch and while she was making my cousin’s knitted jacket (that I intend to show here very soon) I made this typewriter embroidery in my bag with the sun on my face, bringing the most amazing light ( a hot and sunny Christmas day in Lisbon, sometimes we just need to give thanks for the simple things)

Mug warmer

E o vosso? (:

Like I’ve said before, here tea is a very important thing that needs to be drunk in a very stylish way. This mug warmer is going to be a gift, and I actually had a hard work trying to keep up with the shapes of this cup from IKEA.

My favorite tea at the moment is red fruits tea. What’s yours? (:

A gola preta/ The black cowl

Black was never my color, but when you present someone with a gift, you should present them with something they’ll love. And if that someone likes black, then black shall be! I am loving this cowls, and I liked this one particularly because it is quite small and great to use with round neck blouses.

Sobre presentes/ About gifts

Since I can remember, I was that little girl who just loved to wrap gifts! When I was really little, my job was to make the bows but then I got bigger and I started to make the wrapping all by myself.

This year, the gifts are all wrapped in the same way. In the internet, on the discovery education website I found this word search puzzlemaker, and I have created my own word search with the names of the people I need to give gifts to. After that, you just need to find their names and mark them. I love the final look of the gifts, it seems like packaging from the post office. The idea is not 100% mine, I already had seen some tags made from puzzles, but I have never seen wrapping this simple!

Yarn bombing in Sintra

Yarn bombing (from wiki) : Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarnstorming, guerrilla knitting, urban knitting or graffitti knitting is a type of graffitti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.

Adorei do fundo do coração.

This is something I just had to share! In Sintra, right in front of the haberdashery “AntigaDrogaria” and the music center “Olga Cadaval” this magical trees appeared, decorated in a really amazing and crazy way! From what I could gather, this work was made from students and workers of a local school. I loved it from the bottom of my heart. It’s just one of those things one can find in reality that would fit perfectly in her dreams.  One of these trees had a little piece of fabric saying “Wish tree, grab a piece of wool and leave your wish here”. And that’s exactly what I did! Now I just have to wait and see if it will come true (:

Ps. – Sorry about the instagram, I only took my lomo camera and I would have to wait for the film to show the photos here.

Já cheira a Natal/ Smells like Christmas

At Miguel’s place, the tree is already made, the decorations are on and under the tree are most of the presents since the beginning of December. Every year we buy new decorations, and this year we bought this amazing reindeers in red and white. Near the tree, there are always two socks with our name on them, embroidered by me and this year I have decided to reuse some of the decorations that didn’t get to be on the tree to decorate the house.

In our note board, we wish Christmas in almost every language!

Now we just enjoy the cold, the rain and wait for Santa to come (:

In a 8-bit world

Although I haven’t bought any canvas yet, I’m still making my favorite things in 8-bit with hama beads. This time, I come up with a camera, very similar to mine, a red game boy for Miguel and a little cassette, for both of us.

A gola / the Cowl

Bom, seja o que for (:

This year I have promised myself I wouldn’t craft any Christmas present, not because I didn’t want to but because I knew I wouldn’t have enough time. Well, has always, I didn’t keep my promise and now I think I don’t have enough time to finish all of my projects. Oh well, we’ll see (:

This was the first cowl I was planning to do and it’s finished. The design is quite simple and I made it myself, which makes me feel quite proud of myself. I knew that this pattern would probably work and I went for it. Now I am a little bit envy, I wish I could keep this one for myself but I am sure that the moment I’ll give it I’ll be extremely happy. Besides, there will be plenty of winter for me to crochet one for myself and use it!

For the first time, at 23 I replanted plants on a vase! The thing itself wasn’t hard, and I actually liked to go to the backyard on a sunny Sunday morning and reuse some old vases that were hidden in a corner.  The plant was given to me by my mom. Now I just need to wait and see if it holds so it can stay with my cactus!

p.s. – I’m still thinking of how I will craft the vase. I am thinking of some lace like in these amazing vases from the blog “A beautiful mess”. What do you think?
